Wall-E Now Available For Purchase

Wall-E is now available for purchase thru Apple TV and the iTunes Store. The expected purchase release date for this title is 12-02-08. There is currently no rental release date available.

Why is Wall.E available to purchase on iTunes but not to rent? It’s available for rent at Blockbuster and NetFlix now…

Available for viewing on DVD, but not for rental download yet AFAIK. The reason is summed up best by the Netflix FAQ:

“While movie studios and television networks have great flexibility in what they offer on DVD, there are many limits to what they can make available to watch instantly due to long standing contractual obligations.”

The simple message is… CONTRACTS, CONTRACTS, CONTRACTS…

The brick and mortar stores like Blockbuster negotiated their contracts first, so they have precedence. But they won’t last forever…
