AppleTV center of new lawsuit against Apple
Apple is being sued, again, by Ez4Media for patent infringement. It seems the well known, household name, Ez4Media invented the networked media device. For more details see this recent article in AppleInsider. Apple isn’t the only target, this company is going after Netgear, D-Link, Logitech, and more.
I checked out the Ez4Media “Easy Fetch” media player. [...]

It’s attack of the mummies up here in the snowy north (I should mention that we just got another 6″ last night on top of the already 2 feet of snow or more!). The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are the 99 cent movies of the week. Note these usually run Tuesday to Tuesday so [...]

Following up on my previous post about free anime episodes I should have mentioned that Viz Media isnow part of the Canadian iTunes store (kind of obvious, I know). The following shows are now available:

Death Note
Naruto
Canadian iTunes store offering free anime episodes
I just noticed that the Canadian iTunes store is offering free episodes for some well known anime series. These look to be the first in the series - teasers to get you interested.
Naruto - Enter: Naruto Uzumaki
Bleach - Bleach 1
Death Note - Rebirth
These episodes, as far as I can tell, are not available for free [...]
Canadian iTunes Store 99 cent movie - Out of Time
The 99 cent movie of the week (that’s around $0.78 US) is Out of Time. This one looks good (haven’t seen it yet).

Canadian iTunes 99 Cent Movie of the Week: Uptown Girls
The $0.99 movie of the week is different on the Canadian iTunes store, believe it or not! I’ll try and keep these up to date for our Canadian readers/viewers.
PBS Kids added to the Canadian iTunes Store
The list of TV networks on the Canadian iTunes store continues to grow! Although this a minor update from the recent PBS announcement - it’s still good news! I’d really like to see one of the major networks show up on iTunes, this would be a clear indication that things are improving for Canadian TV [...]
Latest Apple TV update 2.3 breaks XMBC and Boxee
Boxee is warning Apple TV users not to upgrade to the latest version 2.3 of the Apple TV software if they wish to continue using XMBC and Boxee. I’m sure the crack Boxee team will sort it out soon!

The Canadian selection of TV Shows is growing, albeit slowly. The History channel is a new network addition to the Canadian iTunes store. The shows included are:

The Universe (season 3)

I know, I know, you’re probably thinking “this is news?”. Well as I posted before, the state of TV content on the Canadian iTunes store is pathetic so any new content is a good thing. Shows included are:
Carrier
Building Green
Scientific American Frontiers
Wired Science
NOW on PBS
Frontline
I’ll try to keep an eye on these Canadian-specific updates but there [...]
Netflix and Apple TV - is there a battle?
I’m writing this in response, albeit belatedly, to a post by John Martellaro at MacObserver - How Netflix is Slowly Killing Apple’s TV Hobby. It seems this is all I’ve been blogging about but I feel I have to respond to some of these articles because they are getting significant uptake on the ‘Net. This particular article results [...]
Why Apple TV Doesn’t Suck
I’m writing this in response to a recent article at ExtremeTech. The article gives 5 reasons why the Apple TV sucks and I thought I’d respond in kind to each point. Now it’s hard not to sound like an Apple fanboy responding to this but I think many of us are fans of the product [...]
Boxee on Apple TV: First Impressions
I’ve had Boxee installed on my Apple TV for a couple of weeks now and I thought it was time to report on my impressions of using it so far. First, just let me say that I’m impressed. Boxee is much more than your typical media player and I will likely become a regular user. [...]
