Apple Issues 3.0.1 Update For Apple TV Fixing A Syncing Issue

Apparently the 3.0 update to the Apple TV bought a syncing problem with it, which Apple issued the 3.0.1 update for today. I was not aware of a syncing issue before receiving an email from Apple asking me to update my Apple TV software.

If you’ve installed the Apple TV 3.0 software update, you should immediately update to version 3.0.1. This prevents content from temporarily disappearing until it is resynced.

So you might want to fire up your Apple TV and get the software updated before your content goes missing.

I had to add all my music back to AppleTV yesterday…that's what I call a syncing problem

I had to add back ALL of my content, very annoying. And I thought it was just the Apple TV acting up.

I went to play some music on my 3.0 ATV yesterday and noticed that it had locked up. My unit locks up a lot so I didn't think much of it, so I rebooted it. When it came up, I noticed a message: “There is no content on this Apple TV. Sync with iTunes or purchase music from the iTunes store.” I applied the 3.0.1 update and I'm now transferring all 13000 items back to the ATV.

WTF, Apple? You take ages to release an update for this neglected product, and it's buggy to boot? This is getting ridiculous.

My issue now that I have updated to 3.0.1 is that none of my album artwork appears on my screensaver. I stream everything and once I reach the 2 min point in which the screensaver should start I get nothing. I've read similar reports starting with 3.0 but this needs to be fixed – ASAP.

Since downloading the update, I tried to rent a movie, and when it says the movie is ready to play and I hit play, it goes blank for a few minutes then just restarts AppleTV. Been through the cycle several times. There was no problem with movie rentals until a few days ago.

I don't have a synching problem, just the rental movie download issue. Very frustrating.

Just got the ATV for Christmas and it had 3.0 loaded on it. I saw the upgrade and added 3.01 before doing anything. Most functions were OK except renting movies. After making a rental selection, all I was getting was 'Accessing iTunes Store' and the spinner forever! Talked to a person at my Apple Store, he went through a few things to try, which I had already done, and then recommended a factory restore. Went home, did the restore, and lost all content, which I knew would happen. But, now I can rent movies. Get prompted to upgrade but just select 'Cancel' for now until I hear of this getting fixed.
