ATVJ Wants To Know:
What Software Do You Use To Encode Media For The Apple TV?

We’ve posted about this before, asking in general, what software you use to backup your DVD’s on to your Apple TV. It was more for spreading general useful information, but as blogs go, these things tend to get pushed to the back and lost.

We’ve decided to start a resource here at Apple TV Junkie, a page dedicated to Apple TV users looking to get alternative media on to their Apple TV and how to do that. And we don’t mean Boxee. All though we believe Boxee will be an important alternative for Apple TV users in the future, we believe it’s not quite ready for prime time and the average Apple TV Joe.

So the question would be to all you, what software do you use to encode media in the proper Apple TV format? This should be both Windows or Mac. All your submission will be important in helping us build our new resource page.

Thanks to ATVJ supporter John D. for the seed to this idea.

Daily HD Rental Update: 1-01-09 & 1-02-09

I have to tell you folks, if there is ever an opening at Apple in the Apple TV/iTunes division, I’m applying. It looks like there has been absolutely no activity in the HD section of the Apple TV for about two weeks straight, other then the new titles which were set for release over the last few weeks, not to mention the SD rental titles which we haven’t covered for a few weeks. It doesn’t even look like things which should be automated are being updated. That sounds like one nice holiday break. I would expect to see Apple adding a lot of back log titles next week.

Speaking of the SD Rental listings, it looks as though they will be making a comeback here within the next few weeks. So for those of you missing our SD listing, we have brought in some new help to take over the SD Rental listing, and once he’s brought up to speed you should start to see the new SD Rentals on a daily basis again.

Head on over to the HD Rentals page to see this weeks entire list of new titles.
