New Poll: Who Purchased A Blu-ray Player On Black Friday Or Cyber Monday
This one’s easy, as Apple TV users we want to know if you found any Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals on Blu-ray players which you couldn’t pass up. Personally I don’t see myself jumping into Bu-ray anytime soon, but with the combination of inexpensive holiday Blu-ray players this year and The Dark Knight coming next week, it was very hard to hold back. Honestly, depending on how the studios allow Apple to distribute The Dark Knight next week may have me seriously thinking of making the jump.

I passed on the bargain prices also, although a blu-ray player is tempting. I have 3 hd tv’s in the house. All are either 720p or 1080i capable. Unless I’m wrong, a blu-ray player won’t make much (if any) difference. Our local Sam’s club has an LG 52″ 1080p tv on sale for $2079. Now if I had that . . . .

Won’t make much of a difference? Unless you just want to watch unconverted DVDs, then, yeah, it won’t make a difference. If you wan to watch Blu-rays, then it makes a world of difference.

What I meant was, my tv’s aren’t 1080p capable, so I don’t believe I’ll get much effect over what I now have. I have hd on all 3 tv’s, just not 1080p hd.

@M Rogers – well. not having Blu Ray nor a 1080p TV, it’s difficult to say without jumping in. A world of difference? Depends on how big that is.
Upconverted DVDs look great on my Panasonic plasma. I’m also quite happy with the HD movies from Apple TV. I suspect Blu Ray will be slightly better but I can’t see going for one unless they’re really cheap and the media costs go down ($35 here up north, $7 to rent). The other possibility is I end up with a PS3 which is how a lot of other people ended up being Blu Ray player owners but not necessarily BD media consumers.

I’ve been Blu since April of 2007.
