Updated Apple TV 2.1 Feature List

Now that we’ve had a little time to play with Apple TV after the 2.1 update, we compiled a list of the new features which were added. If there are any features which we may have missed please let us know.

1. Movies > Wish List – We now have the ability to add select movies to a wish list for later rental.

2. Movies > Trailers – The movie trailers are now consolidated into one list with each movie represented by a thumbnail as opposed to the list only. An HD version of the trailer is selectable if available. Not all trailers are available in HD.

3. Photos > Mobile Me – Replaces .Mac

4. Photos > My Photos – Photos are now displayed in a thumbnail view with the ability to view as a slideshow.

5. Music > My Music > Playlists – Playlists are now represented with the same icon used in iTunes and a “Radio” playlist thumbnail is used for playlists consisting of internet radio streams.

6. Music > My Music > Albums – Each album now contains a small thumbnail representing the album cover.

7. Music > My Music > Compilations – New menu item?

8. Settings > General > Remotes – iPhone users now have the ability to use your phone as a remote to control your music selection.

It’s update time!

Update 3The Unofficial Apple Weblog has a thorough walkthrough of the new 2.1 update with screenshots.

Update 2 – We’ll be consolidating and listing all of the additions to Apple TV later today. Needless to say this update packed a little more of a punch for Apple TV then most thought would happen.

Update 1 – It appears that with this MobileMe update Apple has also updated the My Photos area of Apple TV. By selecting an album under My Photos you now get a list of thumbnails, similar to what you might see in iPhoto. Can anyone else confirm this as a new feature?

Well the day is here, and Apple is making sure that all parts are in place for the iPhone 3g. So what does that mean UPDATES!!! Engadget is reporting iTunes 7.7 in now available. iLounge has info on the Apple TV update that gives support for MobleMe, and remote function from your iPod touch or iPhone. iLounge also has a little blurb about the remote app. So go and update to your hearts content.
